One Direction’s former members have sparked reunion rumours with their social media activity.

Zayn Malik, who left the band in 2015 in pursuit of ”some private time out of the spotlight”, is currently followed on Twitter by his four former bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan, as well as One Direction’s official Twitter account.

While it’s generally not possible to tell when someone started following a specific account on Twitter, several fan accounts indicate that the development is recent – and have interpreted it as a sign of a potential reunion to come.

At the moment, it doesn’t appear that Malik has followed the other accounts back.

“THEY FOLLOWED ZAYN AGAIN IM SOBBING,” one person wrote.

Someone else tweeted: “LIAM, HARRY AND ONE DIRECTION [ACCOUNT] FOLLOWED ZAYN RECENTLY. Niall and Louis are already following him Now I’m waiting for him to follow back.”

This comes shortly after Payne teased a possible reunion, saying and his former bandmates have “all been speaking together a lot”.

“There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around,” Payne told The Sun.

“But more than anything it’s just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”

The band, which emerged in 2010 on The X Factor, is approaching its 10th anniversary – a milestone that many think would present an ideal opportunity to a reunion.
