Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

There is more fun to have at Battersea Power Station than the launch of the Conservative Party manifesto earlier this year. This weekend, it is transformed into a ski resort with 500 tonnes of real snow. And as the sun sets over the 32m high and 100m long ski jump, Mark Ronson and his band the Business Intl, I Blame Coco (aka Coco Sumner, Sting's daughter) and the indie band New Young Pony Club will perform on the main stage in a tent at the temporary alpine-style ski resort.

The festival, now in its third year, hosts superstars of the snowboard and freestyle ski world who compete in world-class snow-sports events, while revellers can enjoy the apres ski party. The disused power station, which was the cover image of the 1977 Pink Floyd album Animals, with an inflatable pig floating between two chimneys, is now the perfect backdrop for live music.

Other acts on the line-up include I am Arrows, formed by the former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows; Hadouken!; the synth-pop band Diagram of the Heart; New York electronica duo MNDR; Bluey Robinson; Rose Dougall, formerly of the Pipettes; DJ Yoda with Natty; and Pendulum with a DJ set. So wrap up warm and dig out those Moon Boots.

Freeze Festival is at Battersea Power Station, London SW8 (www.thefreezefestival.com) today to 31 October
