From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

This was according to several viewers at least, who genuinely thought the band had chosen Walford as their first reunion date.
“Omg @oasis are scraping the barrel aren't they? They'll be on Strictly next,” one tweeted.
The group were of course a tribute band, and the name ‘Noasis’ should have been a clue to viewers.
Danny Dyer, who plays Mick in the soap, very briefly quit Twitter this week after arguing with EastEnders fans.
"Gonna swerve Twitter for a bit. Gonna be wrapped around my beautiful kids. Because the thing is.... Can't see the haters when I've got my love glasses on." he wrote alongside a photo of a guinea pig wearing heart-shaped glasses.
He wasn’t gone for long, returning to tweet about the episode: "Micks Stag tonight. BBC1. 8 bells. It's a beautiful thing,"
