Oasis reunion: Liam Gallagher says brother Noel has ‘begged’ him to restart band

Liam Gallagher says he intends to retire as a solo artist and claims his brother Noel has “begged” him to reform Oasis.

The musician tweeted on Wednesday that he would end his solo career after three albums. He has already released two as a solo performer.

He wrote: “I intend to retire as solo artist after album no3 as I have just had a call from my brother begging me to start oasis again in 2022 if you believe in life after love c’mon you know LG x.”

Liam frequently shares pointed tweets referencing his sibling and their complicated relationship, so it’s not exactly clear whether he was being serious or speaking in jest.

Oasis infamously split in 2009 moments before the two brothers were due to take the stage at the Rock en Seine festival in France.

Fans have hoped for a reunion ever since, though that wish has yet to come true.

Instead, Liam and Noel have pursued separate careers. Liam performed with a new band, Beady Eye, between 2009 and 2014. His first solo album, As You Were, came out in 2017, followed by Why Me? Why Not. in 2019.

Noel, meanwhile, has formed Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, which released a self-titled album in 2011. Chasing Yesterday, the band’s sophomore effort, was released in 2015. Their most recent release, Who Built the Moon? came out in 2017.

Noel recently appeared to hint at a possible appeasement in his relations with Liam, telling The Sunday Times: “Reconciliation is a good thing. But I don’t know one person, one single person, in my life who is living in the perfect family. Not one.”
