From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Noel Gallagher has taken a swipe against Kanye West who earlier this week claimed his new record Waves was the "best album of all time."

It seems the former Oasis singer-songwriter disagrees somewhat.

The rapper made the statement on Twitter upon sharing the tracklist of his upcoming LP formerly known as SWISH - before changing its title (again).

Gallagher has since posted a photo on Instagram, taken during a studio session with his band, the High Flying Birds.

"So Kanye thinks he's made the best album of all time?" the caption read. "You might sell more Mr. Kanye but NGHFB will be better... FACT."

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds released their second studio album, Chasing Yesterday, in 2015.

It's been a controversial week for Kanye; as well as giving his album an unheralded new title, he was involved in a heated Twitter spat with fellow rapper, Wiz Khalifa.

West has since gone on to describe his follow-up to 2013's Yeezus as a 'gospel album.'

Waves will be released on 5 February.
