From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Minaj is set to executive produce and appear in the as-yet unnamed series. She said of the venture “This is one of the more unique adventures I've ever embarked on. I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
A pilot is to be filmed this winter in Minaj’s hometown but the “Anaconda” hitmaker has yet to cast a younger version of herself. She Tweeted: “I am now launching a nation wide search to find #YoungNicki.”
Kate Angelo, who wrote the comedy Sex Tape, will write the series, set in Queens during the 1990’s. Minaj was born in Trinidad and Tobago but moved to the US as a child, all of which will be documented in the show, along with her musical evolution.
"Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is," said ABC Family's executive vice president programming and development, Karey Burke.
Minaj’s next appearance on screen will be alongside Ice Cube in Barbershop 3.
