Rapper Nick Blixky has died after being shot in New York, aged 21.
The music artist – real name Nickalus Thompson – was found by police responding to a 911 call in Brooklyn.
Blixky had several gunshot wounds “to his torso and buttocks”, the NYPD said in a statement.
It read: “On 10 May, at approximately 9.26pm, police responded to a 911 call of a male shot. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive 21-year-old male.”
The statement said that Blixky was pronounced dead after being taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County.
There have currently been no arrests and the investigation “remains ongoing”.
A YouTube video posted by an onlooker claimed that Blixky had become embroiled in “an argument” with police, but New York Post reported that these allegations were incorrect.
Nasir Fisher, a person close to Blixky, wrote on Faceook: “Police didn’t kill my brother ya ****** shut up let him Rest In Peace [sic].”
Shortly before his death, Blixky shared a post on his instagram page promoting his first mixtape, titled “Different Timin’”.
It was set to be released on 6 June.
