From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Miley Cyrus has stayed true to her country roots in her first collaboration with Mark Ronson, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart".

The accompanying music video, however, is a typically wild entry from the musician, as she finds herself at the centre of police chase, driving straight through the middle of a strip club, filled with priests, and a shooting range occupied by children firing off rounds.

Co-written by Cyrus and Ronson, alongside Ilsey Juber, Thomas Brenneck, The Picard Brothers and Conor Rayne Syzmanski, the track will feature on Ronson's forthcoming album, which is set for release next year.

The pair are set to perform the single on the 15 December episode of Saturday Night Live.

Cyrus recently wiped her Instagram account in preparation for her new musical era, with "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" marking Cyrus's first single since the release of her sixth album Younger Now last year.

Ronson recently worked with Lady Gaga on her album Joanne, and the track "Shallow" from this year's A Star is Born. He also collaborated with Dua Lipa on "Electricity".
