From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pop star Miley Cyrus will play a series of UK arena shows in May 2014 as part of her international Bangerz tour.

The controversial “We Can’t Stop” singer will wreak twerking havoc in London, Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham when she heads to Europe in the spring.

The 21 year-old attracted both fans and criticism after her “ Blurred Lines” performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in August shocked viewers as she simulated sex actions with a foam finger and danced provocatively with Robin Thicke in a nude latex bikini.

From that point on there really has been no stopping Miley.

Since the VMAs, the former Hannah Montana star has appeared naked in her “Wrecking Ball” music video, feuded with Sinead O’Connor, smoked a joint and twerked with a dwarf on stage at the EMAs, claimed to be “ one of the biggest feminists in the world” and stuck her tongue out too many times to count.

Just last weekend, the one-time child actress gyrated against her best friend, ‘Father Christmas’ Cheyne Thomas at the KIIS FM Jingle Ball in Los Angeles, pulling a microphone out from near his crotch while dressed as a ‘bad santa’.

Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher attacked Miley's "embarrassing" behaviour in a recent interview and accused the singer of putting "all the other female artists back about f**king five years".

“I think there’s a trend, unfortunately, in the game, at the minute, of girls desperately trying to be provocative or desperately trying to ‘start the debate’ about some old s**t or other,” he told US music magazine Rolling Stone. “Because, really, they’re not very good. Do you know what I mean?”

Tickets for her UK shows are likely to sell out quickly after Miley became the first artist of 2013 to top both the UK album and singles charts in the same week earlier this year.

Miley will be joined on tour by Icona Pop and Sky Ferreira when she kicks off her 38-show US tour on Valentine’s Day. Her UK support acts have yet to be named and more dates are expected to be added.

UK ticket sales will start from 9am on Wednesday 11 December.
