Post Malone honours Mac Miller in touching on-stage tribute
'You were such an incredible person. You changed so many lives,' Malone tweeted after the rapper's death
Post Malone paid tribute to the late rapper Mac Miller while performing at San Diego’s KAABOO Del Mar Festival on Friday.
Malone, 23, arrived on stage in a customised white t-shirt airbrushed with the words “RIP Mac Miller”, surrounded by blue and pink roses. He shared a photo of the shirt, designed by artist Isa Beniston, on Instagram.
Miller, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, was found dead at his Los Angeles home last week, following a reported overdose. He was 26.
“God f***ing dammit,” Malone tweeted shortly after the news broke. “You were such an incredible person. You changed so many lives. Had so much love in your heart. You inspired me throughout high school, and I wouldn’t be where I was today without you. Never a more kind and sincere and beautiful person. I f***ing love you mac.”
Malone later told TMZ: “He was a f***ing, such a beautiful f***ing dude and such a sweet dude and loved everybody. I grew up listening to his music and he really inspired me. It f***ing sucks. He was just too sweet, super nice. We played beer pong at the studio and kicked ass and we were supposed to do an album. We’re all thinking about you and we miss you buddy, very very much.”
It had previously been reported that Malone and Miller had plans to release a joint album, with Miller telling Rolling Stone in August that the duo had already had a jam session. “It was beautiful. We were just having a great time,” he said.
“We’ll make that album one day bubba,” Malone tweeted on Friday. “Miss you so much.”
