From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Lonely Island have released a surprise visual album on Netflix.

Titled The Lonely Island Presents: The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience, the officially termed “visual poem” was released on the streaming service at midnight on Wednesday.

The comedy trio – consisting of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone – joined forces once more for a musical spoof of US baseball players Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, played by Samberg and Schaffer respectively.

It also features appearances by Jenny Slate, Hannah Simone, Sterling K. Brown, Jim O’Heir, and Maya Rudolph.

Directed by Mike Diva and Schaffer, the opening title of the visual album reads: “In 1988, Major League Baseball was set aflame by Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, aka The Bash Brothers. They were known for their towering hoe runs and mind-bending play, but what many don’t know… Is that they recorded an album... of raps.”

Tracks on the album include “Jose & Mark”, “Oakland Nights”, “Focused AF”, “Bikini Babe Workout”, “IHOP”, and “Daddy”.

The visual album is available on Netflix with the audio album itself available through various streaming providers.
