Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Lizzo and Dave will perform at the 2020 Brit Awards, as part of a star-studded line-up that includes Billie Eilish, Stormzy and Harry Styles.

The ceremony will see the Mercury Prize-winning rapper and the Grammy award-winning “Juice” singer play to an audience at London’s O2 Arena on 8 February.

Hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, the event will also feature artists including Ariana Grande, Lewis Capaldi, Michael Kiwanuka, Coldplay and Lana Del Ray competing for awards.

Dave said: “I’m very grateful and looking forward to the opportunity, I’m going to give everything I can to give you my best performance.”

He has bagged four nominations for the evening – Best Male Solo Artist, Best New Artist, Song of the Year and the Mastercard Album of the Year – following the release of his acclaimed debut album Psychodrama last year.

Lizzo, meanwhile, is nominated in the category of International Female Solo Artist, where she is up against Grande, Eilish, Del Ray and Camila Cabello.

She recently took home three awards at the 2020 Grammys for her album Cuz I Love You – for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Traditional R&B Performance.
