She’s better known for twerking with giant foam hands and writhing on wrecking balls naked but Miley Cyrus is proving her musical credentials.

The 21-year-old singer has shared her cover version Led Zeppelin’s 1969 hit Babe I’m Gonna Leave You.

Miley uploaded her version with a tweaked title Baby I'm Gonna Leave You to the track SoundCloud and told her followers on Twitter to listen to it.

The singer puts her vocals to the test as she belts out a heartfelt rendition of the song, capturing all the anguish of the Led Zeppelin version.

The song was released on the band’s self-titled debut album Led Zeppelin, performed lead singer Robert Plant with Jimmy Page on guitar. But the song was originally a folk song from the late 1950s written by Anne Bredon.

So far Miley’s cover of ‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You’ has received 172,745 plays on SoundCloud and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I am enjoying this considerably more than I thought I would. Now Miley, fire your stylist or get one and go rock,” said SoundCloud user mocksoup.

While David McElroy said; “Not bad at all, lot better than expected”.

But was not all good, Harris Charalambides described the song as a “crime”.

This is not the first time that Miley has showed that there is more to her than the controversy and gimmicks.

She has performed acoustic version of her songs and in 2012 sang a rousing version of Jolene in the “Backyard Sessions”.

She has also contributed to the Flaming Lips’ Beatles tribute album With a Little Help From My Fwends, where different artists cover tracks from the band’s seminal St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Cyrus’ version of Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds features on the album, which will be out on 28 October.

And only last week she said she was setting her sights on covering Leonard Cohen’s I’m Your Man.
