From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

On Friday (27 October), Linkin Park regrouped to pay tribute to Chester Bennington at a memorial concert attended by thousands of fans.

Performing at the Hollywood Bowl, the band invited multiple artists to perform alongside them, including members of Blink-182, System Of A Down and Korn. One performance, however, stood out in particular.

“Our special guest on this one is our favourite special guest of the whole night,” Mike Shinoda said, introducing the track “In The End” from the 2001 album Hybrid Theory.

“And that’s f**ked-up to say because of all these great people that have come out tonight, and if I say that, then that makes them look bad! But I do mean our favourite guests – it’s you guys.”

Launching into the song, Shinoda encouraged the audience to perform Bennington’s vocals, leading to an emotional high-point for the evening.

The whole concert was live-streamed online, “In The End” coming around the 2:28:00 mark.

Linkin Park donated their fees from the performance to Music for Relief's One More Light Fund, set up in Bennington’s memory.
