Last month reports emerged that the pop singer was planning to detail the alleged encounter in her new book My Thoughts Exactly, which prompted the tweet from Appleton, who wrote: "One day our paths will cross @lilyallen!"
In an interview with the Guardian, Allen did not confirm or deny the claim, but said: "I mean, I haven't said one thing [to suggest that]. I literally have never said anything. Nine years ago, they first tried to print this story, and I didn't say anything then.
"And now Nicole Appleton, bless her, she's reacted to it. So that's made it seem real. Now my Twitter feed is 'Oh stupid attention seeker, she just wants another minute in the limelight'. But I literally haven't said anything. I haven't even liked a tweet. Nothing."
Gallagher and Appleton divorced in 2014, shortly after it emerged that he had fathered a daughter with American journalist Liza Ghorbani,
Allen's book My Thoughts Exactly is set for release via Blink publishing on 20 October this year, while her new album No Shame is released on 8 June.
Meanwhile Gallagher recently revealed he is working with producer Greg Kurstin and Andrew Wyatt on his second solo album, and said his new music was sounding "biblical".
"Listening back to the new tunes we done last week I gotta say this I never thought I'd ever be a part of this kind of magic again THANKS to you know who you are as you were LG," he tweeted.
