The singer held onto the top spot with her cover of Keane’s 2004 song “Somewhere Only We Know,” which features in the John Lewis Christmas advert.
Allen defended her title despite competition from Avicii’s "Hey Brother", which climbed to number two, and Leona Lewis’ number three track “One More Sleep” from her Christmas album.
The single marks the 28-year-old’s third UK number one following 2006’s “Smile” and 2009’s “The Fear”.
Allen broke back onto the music scene this year after taking an extended two-year break from the industry. Her comeback single “Hard Out Here” spent three weeks in the singles chart at number nine last month.
In the Official Albums Chart this week, Robbie Williams reclaimed the number one spot with his latest record Swing Both Ways.
The singer was knocked off the top of the chart by One Direction’s Midnight Memories last week, which became the fastest-selling album of 2013.
Midnight Memories dropped one place to number two in this week’s album chart, with Gary Barlow holding third place with Since I Saw You Last.
Beyonce’s new self-titled album debuted at number five, despite being on sale for just 48 hours.
The singer unexpectedly released her fifth studio album on Friday, which includes 17 music videos and 14 new tracks.
