The record dropped at midnight on Friday 28 September, the day after Wayne turned 36.
It features several prominent guest stars including Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott and Snoop Dogg. Nicki Minaj, Nivea and Ashanti all sing on the album.
There are also vocals from the late rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot and killed earlier this year. The last song on Tha Carter includes a sample of British artist Sampha.
Production on the album comes courtesy of longtime collaborator Mannie Fresh, Swizz Beatz, Metro Boomin, Ben Billions and many others. Wayne was reportedly still recording part of the album this week. The cover art shows Wayne as a child standing next to his mother.

The US rapper first announced Tha Carter V back in 2012, after the 2011 release of Tha Carter IV. However, due to label issues the record was delayed for more than five years, missing its original scheduled release in 2014.
In 2015, Wayne sued Cash Money and demanded $51m and the right to end ties with the label. According to a recent Billboard cover story, the legal disputes between Wayne and Birdman have now been settled for an undisclosed sum, clearing the way for the release of Tha Carter V.
As part of the deal, Wayne is now the sole owner of Young Money Records, his imprint, which was previously a subsidiary of Cash Money.
Tha Carter V was initially expected last Friday but the album did not appear — Lil Wayne called it “a misunderstanding” but then posted a countdown clock on his website this week, which ticked down to Thursday at midnight.
He also released a video thanking fans for their patience and support: “I would like for y’all to know that since y’all stuck with me for like the last four or five years, through all of this, y’all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback,” he said.
