From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Latitude festival has announced its lineup for 2018, revealing that The Killers, Solange and Alt-J will headline this year's event in July.

Grammy-award winner Solange will appear in a UK exclusive, likely performing music from her incredible album A Seat at the Table, while The Killers will also bring their renowned live show to Henham Park in Suffolk.

Alt-J said of their headline slot: "We are over the moon to be returning to Latitude for a fourth time. It's a festival that's nurtured us beyond any other, taking us from the Lake Stage to the 6 Music Stage and then to headlining in 2015. To do so again is a huge privilege. See you in Suffolk!"

Also announced to perform are The Vaccines, Wolf Alice, Rag'n'Bone Man, Mogwai, Jon Hopkins, Jessie Ware, Benjamin Clementine, Alvvays, Parquet Courts, IDLES and Hinds.

Bolstering its reputation for solid comedy bookings, Latitude will also host acts including Bridget Christie, Harry Hill, Mo Gilligan and Lauren Pattison.
