From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Lana Del Rey has lashed out at a number of fans who said they were convinced that she had voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 US presidential election.

The musician responded to several fan comments on Twitter, including one which said: “I just KNOW Elizabeth voted for Trump. I wish I could look up her voting records. Something doesn't sit right with me.”

“Go. Fuxk. Yourself,” the artist born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant responded.

The fan, clearly hurt, revealed that she had a Del Rey tattoo on her arm, but the singer was unmoved.

“Nah read what u wrote hoe,” she said.

After the Twitter user said she would have to stop being a fan of Del Rey’s, the 35-year-old encouraged her to go ahead.

““Bro. I've been waiting for u to. Do it,” she tweeted.

The fan has since switched her Twitter account to private, but Del Rey’s replies were still visible at the time of writing.

The Independent has contacted Del Rey’s representative for comment.

Del Rey has made a number of comments against Trump in the past, most memorably when she called out fellow musician Kanye West after he expressed support for the incumbent president.

“If you support someone who believes it's okay to grab a woman by the p***y just because he's famous — then you need an intervention as much as he does — something so many narcissists will never get because there just isn't enough help for the issue,” she said in a message to West.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has urged Americans to wait for every vote to be counted in this year’s presidential election, which is proving to be one of the tensest in recent history.
