From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Lady Gaga shut down rumours that she was expecting a child by announcing that she is working on her sixth album.

The Oscar-winning artist and actor posted a tweet clearly poking fun at the pregnancy reports on social media.

“Rumours I’m pregnant?” she asked. “Yeah, I’m pregnant with #LG6 [Lady Gaga 6].”

Gaga’s last album, Joanne, was released in October 2016 to positive reviews. The record took a much more minimalist approach to the previously maximalist pop Gaga was known for, with the emphasis placed on her vocal talent.

Since the album, Gaga has performed a world tour and starred alongside Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born, for which she was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar, and won for Best Original Song.

Her relationship with Cooper, who also directed the film, has been the subject of mass speculation among fans and the tabloid press. Following an intimate performance at the Oscars, Gaga appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she revealed: “Yeah... that’s what we wanted you to see,” confirming that the pair were in fact, acting.

There are no further details as to the release of the new album, but many fans are speculating that Rihanna will be involved in at least one of the tracks, after Gaga followed her and record producer BloodPop on social media.
