Lady Gaga has cancelled her remaining US and Canada tour dates as she undergoes surgery for an injury to her hip.
The singer had previously postponed shows in Chicago, Detroit and Ontario on her Born This Way world tour, but has now been forced to cancel the rest due to a problem with her hip.
A statement on Lady Gaga’s official website stated yesterday: “Live Nation Global Touring has confirmed that the remainder of the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball performances have been cancelled.
“After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip. She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal.“
Earlier this week the singer tweeted to her 34 million followers about her reluctance to cancel the tour dates: “It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and I’m sorry.”
She revealed she had been hiding the chronic pain from her staff for over a month.
