Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chart-topping rock band Kings Of Leon are to be among the headliners for next year's Isle Of Wight Festival, it was announced today.
The band - whose fifth album, Come Around Sundown, was recently number one - will top the bill for one night of the three day event next June.
Organisers say it will be the Tennessee quartet's only major UK festival appearance in 2011.
Kings Of Leon, who played a triumphant headline slot at Glastonbury in 2008, have also lined up a number of large outdoor events next summer of their own, including a return to London's Hyde Park.
Next year's festival will be the 10th since it was revived. It had begun life in the late 1960s, and featured performances by Jimi Hendrix and The Who.
Isle Of Wight Festival promoter John Giddings said: "We are proud to bring one of the world's biggest rock bands to the island on our 10th anniversary. It is an incredible way to start the weekend, I can't wait."
Tickets for the event, which takes place from June 10 to 12, go on sale on Friday.
