Drake managed to shift 61,000 copies of Nothing Was the Same at number two, beating Kanye West and Jay-Z to nab the top-selling debut week for a hip-hop album this year.
Jessie J’s Alive, her follow-up to the million-selling Who You Are, could only manage number three. Arctic Monkeys’ AM fell three places to four.
There were new entries for Birdy’s Fire Within at eight and Chvrches’ The Bones of What You Believe at nine.
It was a big week on the album chart, but the top two both failed to break the 100,000-sales barrier. Justin Timberlake, Michael Buble, Daft Punk and Arctic Monkeys have all surpassed the mark this year.
On the singles chart, Jason Derulo’s "Talk Dirty" held off Katy Perry’s "Roar" to spend a second consecutive week at number one. Derulo’s album, Tattoos, debuted at number five.
Kings of Leon may have beaten Drake in the UK, but they’ll have no such luck in the US.
The rapper is set for first-week sales of 670,000, while the rockers are expected to nab a comparatively paltry 120,000.
