Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Kelly Clarkson has formed a girl group, Already Famous, with her backing singers.

The 'Because of You' singer has formed the vocal harmony band with her touring backup singers Jill and Kate and they have already started working on songs in the studio. Kelly tweeted: "I'm off to Oklahoma to record some songs with @jillandkate! I love random writing and recording with friends! (sic)

"We've been writing & singing together 4 over 4 years so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony! (sic)"

The group later posted a small photo montage, and wrote: "Just wrapped up in the studio," then listed their producers and engineers. Jarod Evans, who had been working with them, tweeted back: "twas awesome. you guys wrote some amazing tunes! ready for round 2! (sic)"

Kelly also confirmed she will share lead vocal duties with her bandmates, saying: "We all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points."

The 'I Do Not Hook Up' hitmaker is also working on her fifth solo album, which she can't wait for fans to hear. When complemented on her songs, she tweeted back to a fan: "Thanks for digging the music. Can't wait for you to hear the new stuff!"
