Kanye West fans furious over delay of new album ‘Jesus is King’
Album is the second of West’s to experience delays in the past year
Disappointed Kanye West fans are reacting after the rapper failed to release his album on the scheduled date.
The album was expected to be heavily influenced by gospel, following West’s Sunday Service tour, and a tracklist loaded with Biblical references.
West had posted the album’s tracklist on his website, with a note confirming it would be out today (27 September).
Earlier this week, West’s wife Kim Kardashian-West also indicated Jesus Is King would definitely be released as promised. She tweeted: “2 more days Jesus is King”.
Rolling Stone reports that sources close to the situation confirmed the record has been delayed.
Suffice to say, fans are not happy:
Jesus is King is the second project from West to be shelved last-minute in less than a year. Yandhi, which was also announced by Kim Kardashian on Twitter, was expected to be released last September. It was then pushed back to a 23 November release date, but never arrived.
West eventually addressed the situation by tweeting: “I realise the new album I’ve been working on isn’t ready yet. I’ll announce the release date once it’s done. Thank you for understanding.”
According to reports, the decision to delay Jesus Is King coincided with a meeting West had with executives from his label, Def Jam, in Wyoming.
West, who recently purchased a ranch in the sparesly populated state, held one of his signature services there last weekend.
