From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first trailer for Kanye West’s Jesus is King, the companion movie to his much-delayed ninth album, has been released, along with details on getting tickets for the new film.

Described as a 2001: A Space Odyssey-inspired documentary art film, Jesus is King will screen in IMAX cinemas nationwide over two days at the end of October.

The film, directed by Nick Knight, has so far only been screened to fans who have attended West’s live Jesus is King events in the US.

According to those that attended, the film features 13 live versions of tracks from West’s new album, all of which are spiritual in nature and filled with references to religion and West’s personal faith.

The film’s trailer features a gospel reinterpretation of West’s track “Say You Will”, from his 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak, over an image of what appears to be a temple.

It ends with a biblical quote from the New Testament Book of Mark that reads: “In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.’”
