Kanye West’s bulletproof vest from the second Donda listening event has been sold for $20,000 (£14,567).

According to GQ, the vest was a gift from the 44-year-old rapper to a security guard who was at the stadium in Atlanta at the time of the event.

The guard reportedly sent the garment to Justin Reed’s consignment shop in LA, who in turn sold it. The hand-painted vest was “worn” and signed by West himself.

Reed explained that he was unsure what to price the vest initially. However, after receiving multiple offers, he decided to double the price from the starting price of $10,000 (£7,284).

This news comes after the “Follow God” rapper formally requested to change his name to Ye.

Born Kanye Omari West, the rapper filed for the name change on Tuesday 24 August according to TMZ.

Back in 2018, West alluded to his plans to change his name formally to Ye in a tweet. “Formally known as Kanye West. I am YE”, the rapper tweeted.

His name change comes as fans reacted with frustration to the news that West is holding a further listening party for his new album Donda weeks after it was expected to be released.

According to reports, Ye is building a structure that resembles the house he grew up in inside Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium for the third listening event.
