From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Kanye West is back in the studio to start work on the follow-up to last year’s Yeezus.

The US rapper has revealed that most of first single “All Day” is already finished and is “so good, the album has to be balanced against it”.

Fans can expect something that could be played in a club, similar to his hit 2012 collaboration with Jay Z, “Niggas in Paris”.

West told GQ recently that he hopes to see his seventh studio album out by the end of this year at the latest.

“I think most likely September,” he said. “I go back and forth. Like, should it be September or should it be October? Should it be November? When Beyoncé was working on her last album, she took a while.”

West had been aiming for a June release to “kill it for the summer” but commitment to his Adidas partnership and spending time with daughter North took priority.

Wife Kim Kardashian posted a picture from the studio on Instagram yesterday, showing North, 13 months, sitting on the “Bound 2” songwriter’s knee with the hashtag #BringYourDaughterToWorkDay.

Just last month, West compared paparazzi attention to rape during a 20-minute rant at London’s Wireless Festival.

“I want my daughter to have that opportunity to decide whether she wants to be famous or not,” he said. “I think to myself, what the f*** am I going to do, how can I change it and how can I give my daughter her childhood?”

Cutting down on the social media photos might be a good start.
