From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have spared no expense in purchasing two bullet and bomb-proof armoured vehicles to protect their two-month-old daughter, North.

The 36-year-old rapper - known for hits such as "Stronger", "Gold Digger" and more recently "Mercy" - is said to have spent $1.2 million (£800,000) each for the two Prombron Iron Diamonds by Dartz Motorz inspired by the presidential limo.

‘Kimye’ were recently singled out by none other than President Obama for their wealthy lifestyle warps the American Dream.

The Latvian company who produce the car state on their website that the Iron Diamond prevents kidnapping, hijacking and other problems facing wealthy people on the street. It is also said to withstand landmine attacks and rocket-propelled grenades.

The company also angered the animal welfare charity Peta when they used leather interiors made from a whale's foreskin.

Upping their security, the couple of 16 months have also been reported to use body doubles carrying baby dolls as paparazzi decoys.

Jay-Z apparently advised his "Watch the Throne" collaborator on security after he and his wife Beyonce gave birth to their daughter in 2012.

A close source to the star told The Daily Star: “Kanye is fully aware that his new family is so high-profile they attract the attention of ‘weirdos’ and psychopaths. He aims to leave nothing to chance”.
