Justin Bieber has backtracked on his invitation to fight Tom Cruise MMA style.

In a tweet earlier this week, the singer challenged the Mission Impossible actor to a “fight in the octagon”.

He suggested Cruise would be “scared” if he didn’t take the fight and would “never live it down”. The challenge sparked a frenzy on social media.

Bieberwent on to invite UFC President Dana White to stage the brawl, with champion fighter Conor McGregor offering to host.

McGregor responded: “If Tom Cruise is man enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the bout. Does Cruise have the sprouts to fight, like he does in the movies? Stay tuned to find out!”

However, Bieber has now walked back the challenge. TMZ caught up with the artist and asked him about the bold challenge, with the star quickly clarifying the remarks.

“Man... I was just playing, it was just a random tweet, I’m pretty sure Tom would probably whoop my ass in a fight,” he said.

“I’d have to get super in shape, I’m really skinny right now. I think he’d probably be out of my weight class. He’s got that dad strength.”

Guess we’re not going to find out who’d win in a fight between the two stars. Shame.
