On “Legends”, which was released as a single from the EP, the rapper, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, said that he “ain’t making it past 21”.
“What’s the 27 Club? / We ain’t making it past 21”, he raps. “They tell me I’m-a be a legend / I don’t want that title now / ‘Cause all the legends seem to die out / What the f*** is this about?”
The 27 Club is the collective name for artists who died under tragic circumstances at the age of 27. The list includes Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse and Jim Morrison.
“Legends” was written as a tribute to the rapper XXXTentacion, who died in 2018 at the age of 20. Too Soon... was designed as a two-track tribute to the rapper and Lil Peep, who died in 2017 at the age of 21.
On Twitter, one person wrote: “Juice Wrld died?? … Guy wrote his own obituary with ‘Legends’ and didn’t even know it. F***, that’s sad.”
Another tweet read: “Juice Wrld became the legend, didn’t make it past 21 like he said.”
Earlier this month (1 December), Juice Wrld tweeted: “This life is yours do what TF you want do, great things and change the world.
“Don’t let no one tell you s***... and you’ll be bigger than Juice Wrld will ever be, and he’s going down as a legend.”
TMZ reported today (8 December) that the rapper died after suffering a seizure shortly after arriving at Chicago’s Midway airport.
