Jordan Feldstein, the longtime manager of Maroon 5 and brother to acclaimed actor Jonah Hill has died. He was 40.

The Feldstein family released a statement indicating that Mr Feldstein had called 911 Friday after experiencing shortness of breath, and that he had gone into cardiac arrest by the time paramedics arrived. He died shortly thereafter. A statement from the band also confirmed Mr Feldstein's unexpected death.

Mr Feldstein was the founder and chief executive of Career Artist Management, and had managed Maroon 5 since the band was formed 15 years ago. His company's portfolio includes Miguel, Rick Springfield, the B-52s and Elle King, among others.

He is survived by Hill, his sister, his parents, and two children.

Mr Feldstein first got his start in the music business working for ICM and Bill Leopold Management, and later went on to manage the entire career of Maroon 5. He was personally connected to that band, as he was childhood friends with lead singer Adam Levine. During the career of that band, Mr Feldstein saw their rise as one of the best known pop bands in modern music, and oversaw negotiations for Levine to join the judge panel on America's version of "The Voice".

He was married twice in his life, including one marriage in 2013 to Francesca Eastwood, Clint Eastwood's daughter.

The statement from the family reads as follows:

Unfortunately, last night Jordan called 911 for shortness of breath, when paramedics arrived it was determined he went into full cardiac arrest and passed away shortly thereafter.

His family asks for privacy during this difficult and unexpected time.

In lieu of food and flowers, the family will announce a charity in the coming weeks where memorial donations can be made in Jordan’s name.
