At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference.Jesy Nelson has shared her first photo since leaving Little Mix.
The Instagram post comes days after the singer released a public statement thanking fans for their support after revealing she had quit the band.
Nelson captioned the new photo with a heart emoji.
In the statement announcing her departure from Little Mix, Nelson said her decision was due to the toll that stardom had taken on her mental health.
Nelson was widely praised for speaking out, with her former band mates – Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards – sending their support.
They said they would continue as a trio when Little Mix went on tour in 2021.
“Some of your messages have made me feel so emotional and I appreciate it so much,” Nelson said in a follow-up post. “Love you all.”
Nelson’s fans were overjoyed to see the photo appear on their feed, with many telling her they were “so happy” to see her back and looking so well.
Rumours of her departure had been circulating ever since Nelson stepped down from public appearances with the band in October.
Following the news, One Direction star Liam Payne was defended after making a controversial comment about his former band mate Zayn Malik in relation to Nelson’s departure.
