Jennifer Lopez has said “it wasn’t weird at all” to dress up as her fiancée’s rumoured ex-girlfriend Madonna for Halloween.

On 31 October, Lopez posted an image of herself to Instagram in which she sported a replica of the white wedding dress worn by Madonna on her cover of her 1984 album Like a Virgin.

“Didn’t know how lost I was until I found you,” Lopez captioned the image, which quoted lyrics from the title track of the album. She also dedicated the caption to her fiancée, former baseball star Alex Rodriguez.

While appearing on Andy Cohen’s US radio show, Lopez was asked whether it was “odd” to dress up as Madonna, since she and Rodriguez were briefly rumoured to be a couple in 2008.

“Was that not odd given that Alex maybe dated Madonna for two seconds?” Cohen asked Lopez.

“No he doesn’t... That was so long ago,” Lopez replied. “It wasn’t weird at all. He loved it.”

Madonna and Rodriguez were repeatedly photographed together in 2008, but Madonna denied that the pair were in a romantic relationship.

In a statement published in July 2008, Madonna also denied that she and then-husband Guy Ritchie were planning to divorce, or that she was involved in the breakdown of Rodriguez’s own marriage or his rumoured conversion to Kabbalah.

“My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce,” Madonna said. “I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”

Madonna and Ritchie did end up filing for divorce in September 2008.

Lopez, who has launched a line of skincare products, revealed in November that the pandemic had made her a better parent.

She and Rodriguez have been engaged since 2019.
