Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

With Nicki Minaj having thrown down the ass gauntlet with Anaconda, J-Lo and Iggy Azalea have responded with a music video for Booty the concept of which seems to be 'butts butts butts butts butts butts butts butts'.

"What's a good excuse to just cram a video with a load of flesh?

"We write a song just called Booty that says 'booty' loads."

"You get a raise!"

This was presumably how a meeting went down in Jennifer Lopez's underground lair recently, Nicki Minaj having shifted the R&B pop paradigm so that mainstream artists can only really surface on Vevo by extolling the virtues of ass cheeks.

J-LO is 45 for Christ's sake, she probably thought she'd be settling down writing ballads by now, the videos for which are just her staring pensively from a yacht, but no, here she is grinding on Iggy Azalea and being slapped with a load of water for no reason.

Maybe it's a commentary on twerking? Here's the lyrics for the chorus, you decide:

Big, big booty

What you got a big booty

Big, big booty

What you got a big booty

Big, big booty

What you got a big booty

Big, big booty
