From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In the video, which was posted to Instagram by another party guest, the rapper is seen pulling the phone out of a man’s hand before appearing to admonish him for filming the party.
Beyoncé, meanwhile, is shown dancing to Bobby Brown’s 1988 single “Every Little Step” near the unknown man, alongside fellow Destiny’s Child alumni Kelly Rowland and the rapper Saweetie.
The incident occurred at the 50th birthday party for hip-hop mogul and rapper Diddy.
Other guests at the party included Cardi B and her husband Offset, along with the Migos rapper Quavo.
In a second video filmed at the exclusive gathering, Beyoncé is seen holding Saweetie’s arm as they excitedly talk near the location of the phone altercation.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are notoriously private celebrities, with Beyoncé using her cameo on last year’s Jay-Z and Future track “Top Off” to instruct others not to spill the beans on the couple’s very exclusive parties.
“If they’re trying to party with the queen, they gon’ have to sign a nondisclosure,” Beyoncé raps.
