The "emotion picture"- now available on YouTube - unveils a totalitarian world set in the future where people are known as "computers."
It explores themes of love, politics and social issues through a sci-fi lens.
In the visual, the 32-year-old musician portrays Jane 57821 who is taken to a facility to be "cleaned."
While feelings are allowed in the Dirty Computer world, the "wrong" types of human emotions are stripped from individuals.
Actress Tessa Thompson - who made cameos in the music videos for "Make Me Feel" and "PYNK" - also appears in the film.
Visuals from those music videos are a large part of the movie as memories that are deleted from Jane 57821 when her emotions are reprogrammed.
Before the release of Dirty Computer, Monáe also released two additional tracks "Django Jane" and "I Like That."
Her new LP features collaborations with Brian Wilson, Grimes, Zoe Kravitz and Pharrell Williams.
Monáe's third album Dirty Computer - the follow-up to 2013's The Electric Lady - is out today.
