Jaden Smith has doubled down on his claim that he’s dating rapper Tyler, the Creator.
Earlier this month, the son of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith claimed the rapper – real name Tyler Gregory Okonma – was his boyfriend during a festival performance in California
“Tyler doesn’t want to say but Tyler’s my m****f***ing boyfriend,” he said in the viral vieo, adding to cheers for the crowd: “And he’s been my my m****f***ing boyfriend my whole f**king life.”
He later tweeted: “Yup @tylerthecreator I told everyone you can’t deny it now.” It has since been deleted.
Tyler was seen in the video laughing and shaking his head. He later replied to Smith’s tweet with a message that read: “Hahaha you a crazy n***a man.”
However, Smith has reiterated his original statement in an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio.
“I recently said that Tyler, the Creator is my boyfriend, and that’s true,” Smith said. “So, just so you know.”
It is currently not clear whether the pair are actually dating or whether Smith was poking fun at speculation surrounding Tyler’s sexuality. In his back catalogue, Tyler was heavily criticised for his use of the word “faggot”. However, on his last album Flower Boy, he discussed his sexuality in what appeared to be a breakthrough moment, and has since been more open about his refusal to accept labels.
Smith, who has just dropped a video of new song “Plastic,” has also been relatively open in discussions of sexuality and is known for his androgynous fashion style.
