From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The US rock band are joining Biffy Clyro and Calvin Harris at the top of the bill, which will also feature performances from the likes of Mercury-Prize nominated Rudimental and “Let Her Go” singer Passenger.
In what will be their only show in the UK and Ireland this year, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be drawing on material from their extensive 10-album back repertoire.
“To headline the Isle of Wight Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity, following in the footsteps of Jimi Hendrix and The Doors,” the Red Hot Chili Peppers said.
"Finally - we've got them!" added John Giddings, festival promoter. "One of the most exciting rock bands of the modern era come to visit, and judging by performances I have seen previously, it will be a highlight in the music history of the festival.”
The Isle of Wight Festival created a sand sculpture on the island to announce their latest headliner - a time lapse video can be watched below:
Other acts already confirmed for the line-up include Manchester indie group The 1975 and 80s band The Waterboys.
Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro also paid tribute to past Isle of Wight performers, mentioning Bob Dylan, The Who and Pearl Jam. “We cannot wait to get back to this iconic festival and this beautiful island,” he said in December.
The Isle of Wight Festival takes place in Newport’s Seaclose Park from 12 to 15 June.
