The Canadian musician talked to Rolling Stone magazine about how the relationship had changed her life.
“No one believes me about this,” she said, “But I just did not understand what I was getting into at all.”
“Not that I’m mad about it. I just didn’t think it would be a thing.”
Musk is the founder of electric car company Tesla. Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, is currently pregnant with his child.
“There are a lot of problems in the world that we need to solve,” said Grimes, when asked about her boyfriend’s electric car business. “My boyfriend is actually doing it, tangibly, visibly – like, you just can’t deny it.”
She then compared him to the socialist contender for the US Democrat Presidential nomination, Bernie Sanders: “When I look at the aims of my boyfriend and I look at the aims of Bernie, like, their end goals are very similar.”
Grimes recently released her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, to critical acclaim.
