From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The singer will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday, joining previously announced artists Paul McCartney – who is in the lead spot on Saturday – and Diana Ross, who will play the Sunday afternoon “legends slot”.
Swift tweeted a picture of herself with the festival's newspaper and the caption: “I’m ecstatic to tell you that I’ll be headlining Glastonbury on its 50th anniversary – See you there!”
“I’m so pleased to announce Taylor Swift will be headlining the Sunday at Glastonbury 2020,” said Eavis.
“She’s one of the biggest stars in the world and her songs are absolutely amazing. We’re so delighted.”
Michael’s daughter and festival co-organiser Emily added: “Taylor is one of the biggest and best artists on the planet, and we’re just so pleased that she’s coming here to Worthy Farm to join us for our 50th birthday celebrations.”
Friday’s headliner is still to be revealed but Emily recently said it would be a male artist who would be playing the festival “for their first time”.
Kendrick Lamar is heavily rumoured to be the final headliner. Check out all the rumoured artists here.
