From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Killers and The Cure have been announced as the final two headliners for Glastonbury 2019. The two bands will join Stormzy as the main events on the Pyramid Stage at the festival, as it returns for the first time since 2017 after a traditional fallow year.

The news was announced via the festival’s official Twitter page, along with the confirmation that many more acts are still to be announced.

Artists announced along with the three headliners include Kylie Minogue, George Ezra, Liam Gallagher, Miley Cyrus, Vampire Weekend, Two Door Cinema Club, Bastille, Christine and the Queens, Hozier, Sigrid, Years & Years, Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae and Wu-Tang Clan.

Janet Jackson, who has never played a UK festival before, is also on the bill.

She will to the stage following the furore over the Channel 4 documentary Leaving Neverland, which made sex abuse allegations against her late brother Michael.

The Jackson family recently said she has not publicly defended the late pop star because she does not want to give more “energy” to the allegations.

Her singing brothers, known collectively as The Jacksons, played the festival in 2017.

This year’s festival takes place between 26 and 30 June. Tickets for the event sold out in just over half an hour.

Stormzy was announced as the first headliner back in November, writing on Twitter: “THE HEADLINE ACT – GLASTONBURY 2019, well let’s be f***ing having ya then.”
