From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Frank Ocean has released two singles, “Dear April” and “Cayendo” on streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music.

After previewing the songs last October at a club night in New York, the artist had previously made the tracks available as a double A side 7” vinyl.

Ocean has not put out a full length album since Blonde in 2016.

The 32-year-old has spoken in interviews about an upcoming record, saying it is influenced by club music from around the world. It will also feature the work of string instrument arrangers.

The as-yet-unnamed album will, Ocean revealed, explore themes of strength and vulnerability.

“I believed for a very long time that there was strength in vulnerability, and I really don’t believe that any more,” he said, in a rare interview with W magazine.

“’Strength’ and ‘vulnerability’ sound opposite as words. And so to combine them sounds wise, but I don’t know if it is wise.”

Ocean’s track “In My Room” was recently selected by former US President Barack Obama as one of his favourite songs of 2019.
