From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. After performing at the Oscars and Grammys, you would think Dave Grohl would want a break from the limelight.

However, the frontman looks set to launch himself forward once more as his band, the Foo Fighters, tease a mysterious announcement.

UPDATE: The band released a video confirming they are not breaking up, watch it here.

A Tweet appeared from the band’s official Twitter account that read: “Official band announcement tomorrow night. Stay tuned.”

PageSix has since reported that the band are set to split up, rumours pointing to Grohl eyeing up a solo project.

However, these have been rubbished by a Foo Fighters spokesperson, who told Entertainment Weekly that the idea of a break-up was “utterly ridiculous”.

In 2015, the band released an EP titled St. Cecilia, along with a message from Grohl that hinted at leaving the project behind (via NME): “We could use a nice wander through the woods right about now. Another empty journal, another tap on the shoulder … those things are never far behind. It’s what lies ahead in those woods that excites me now….”

Later in the year, however, the ex-Nirvana drummer said they wouldn’t split as the group were like family: “It’s a family and it’s become a way of life with us. We love each other.”

So what could the mystery announcement be? Perhaps a new album? Tour dates? Glastonbury headline slot? (Emily Eavis has said they will not be playing the festival, so quite unlikely). Who knows, but we’re excited nonetheless.
