From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Snoop Lion- formerly known as Snoop Dogg- will be dropping it like it’s hot this summer when he returns to the stage to play T in the Park in Edinburgh and EXIT in Serbia.

But those expecting Doggy Dogg to rap his new material may be in for a surprise. The artist has done a “P Diddy” and decided to change his name to Snoop Lion to put his bad-boy rapper image behind him.

In the six years since he last played EXIT, Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion returned to Jamaica with an aim to make a record with no rap.

In a film made about his time in Jamaica, the rappers says of himself: “Snoop Dog don’t think about hustling and making money and drug dealing and shooting, all that be out of here.

“I’ve been on top ever since I’ve been in. I’ve got rap songs that will never die- and I ain’t got not disrespect but I’m tired of rapping. I want to do a record, a whole record, with no rapping.”

The documentary, called Reincarnated, follows the artist as he returns to Jamaica and undergoes a personal transformation. It is billed as “the controversial journey of a modern icon.”

Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion is shown participating in traditional Jamaican culture, dancing with drums and being blessed.

“I didn’t just want to come here make a record in Jamaica and do some dreadlock- rastafari called me,” he says.

Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion will be headlining EXIT in Serbia (10-14 July) alongside Bloc Party and DJ Fresh, and will be playing T in the Park in Edinburgh (12-14 July) with Emeli Sande, Calvin Harris, The Script and other confirmed acts.
