Fatboy Slim remixes Right Here Right Now with Greta Thunberg's speech

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A mashup of Fatboy Slim’s “Right Here, Right Now” and Greta Thunberg’s United Nations speech has emerged.

The artist, whose real name is Norman Cook, originally shared a remix of the two on Twitter after it was shared by musician The Kiffness.

According to fan footage shared on social media, Fatboy Slim then played a live version during a concert in Gateshead, England.

Thunberg used the words “right here, right now” in her 23 September speech in front of world leaders, in which she took them to task regarding climate change.

“We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line,” she said. “The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.”

This quote, naturally, makes an appearance in the remix, along with other quotes.

“People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money,” a partial quote, also features, as does: “You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you.”

“Right Here, Right Now” was released two decades ago, in 1999. It is considered one of the best dance tracks of all time.

Thunberg is scheduled to appear at a climate change forum in North Dakota on Tuesday.
