At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Eminem has surprised fans by releasing a new album, Music to Be Murdered By – Side B.
The follow-up to his January album, Music to Be Murdered By, this new record features collaborations with Dr Dre (“Guns Blazing”, “She Loves Me”, “Discombobulated”), Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Premier, and Skylar Gray.
Eminem’s last surprise album was followed up by a performance at the Academy Awards in February, harking back to his Oscar win for “Lose Yourself” in 8 Mile. This time around, he made a cameo in a Saturday Night Live sketch parodying his 2000 superfan song “Stan”, ahead of the release.
The new record, which has been rumoured for the last few days, includes mentions of Covid-19 and an apology to Rihanna.
On the track “Zeus”, he references a decade-old song that leaked in 2019 that featured lyrics about “siding with Chris Brown”. He raps: “And wholeheartedly apologies Rihanna for that song that leaked/I’m sorry, Rih, it wasn’t meant to cause you grief/But regardless it was wrong of me.”
Along with the album, Eminem also released the Cole Bennett-directed video for “Gnat”.
