From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Rumour has it, he’s working on new material including a Drake diss track, as detailed by American radio host Ebro Darden .
“I told Drake I heard the rumour was Eminem was going to gear up to come after him,” Ebro said on his morning show.
“[Drake] laughed and said, ‘that’s not going to happen. He’ll never do that. And if he did I got something for him too.’”
As with all slightly juicy stories, the internet jumped on the story, asking whether an Eminem 'diss' track was really on the way and admiring Drake’s fighting spirit.
Unfortunately, it looks like there is no real ‘beef’ between the two. Shady records co-founder Paul Rosenberg Tweeted out ‘Slow news day.” while also retweeting a Drake Tweet from 2009 reading “Eminem = Greatness”.
Ebro himself responded to the rumours as well, saying the statement was a joke which people are jumping on. he Tweeted: “Facts we was joking… Talked about in jest & fools jumped out the window. I ain't even think it was a big deal.”
He reiterated Rosenberg’s comments about it being a slow news day. “It was such a joke and people ran with it... Slow news day. Drake got too much respect for all that…”
So, there you have it. Don’t expect any Eminem/Drake feud to erupt anytime soon. On the other hand, could we be expecting a Kanye/Drake collaboration album in the near future? Rumour has it, the pair will release a record sometime soon.
Meanwhile, in other Drake news, the Six God failed to topple Bryan Adams' UK Chart record earlier this year after his track "One Dance" was knocked off the top spot by Justin Bieber and Major Lazor.
