From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Elton John has announced an extra London tour date for his colossal Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

The legendary musician will play an additional show at The O2, on Saturday 14 December.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday 21 June, while sales are open for the rest of John’s O2 shows already.

As a celebration of over 50 years of performing, John began his world tour last September in Europe. He has been putting on shows in cities including Amsterdam, Lille, Paris and Dublin, and will now make his way through North America, Australia and New Zealand, before concluding his tour in London.

During his 95th performance of the tour (at the 1st Central County Cricked Ground in Hove), John was joined by Taron Egerton (who recently played the star in his biopic, Rocketman) for a duet of “Your Song”.
