From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ellie Goulding is dropping a new single called ‘On My Mind’ later this week, and put out a 15-second teaser for it on Twitter yesterday.

It sees her continue down the EDM route, the teaser being all ramping up drum fills and pounding synth drops.

“Boy I got you on my mind / You think you know some” is the hook for the track, which will get its premiere on Thursday 17 September before being released worldwide on the Friday.

‘On My Mind’ was produced by Max Martin, who did a lot of work on The Weeknd’s new album Beauty Behind The Madness.

The single will likely feature on her upcoming third album, the follow-up to 2013’s Halycon Days which topped the UK chart, selling over a million copies in the UK alone.

Goulding also posted a subtle GIF on Instagram which is thought to be the single’s artwork:
